Wireless Apple Car Play to Debut in BMW 5 Series
It was announced that Wireless Apple Car Play will be coming out in the BMW 5 Series in January of this year. This system is brought to you by the American electronics company of Harmon, and essentially turns the larger screen into your iPhone through the use of Bluetooth and wifi — without wires of any kind. It’s the first system on the market to do this. So why should you want this feature when your phone can already connect without Car Play? See why the benefits are something that every driver should be using.
The Driver is King
It can be stressful to know that you can’t control other driver’s behavior, which can cause you to make mistakes on the road. Car Play is just one more thing you can do to increase the options you do have on the road, and you can do it without hooking anything up. All you have to do is have your phone with you. Not only do you have a much larger screen to work with (about twice the size of your iPhone), but the features are also laid out in a car-friendly format. This makes it easier to use the interface, find the right buttons, and play what you want (the first time you make the selection and not the third.)
Stops the Fussing
We all know what it’s like to be driving and to be struck by an almost indescribable urge to check your phone. Maybe you’re set up to get work emails, and you feel compelled to check if it’s good or bad news. Maybe you’re dating someone new and you need to know if they’re texting you right now. Every year distracted drivers put everyone on the road at risk, but Apple Car Play is built to limit the amount of alerts you get on the road automatically, drastically decreasing your chances that you’ll become a statistic.
Voice Activations
Siri can still be used with Car Play, and it’s even easier to use in the BMW 5 Series. The newer phones now come with voice activated Siri controls, meaning you won’t have to use your hands at all to make your moves. The system will give you updates while you’re on the road too so you can be better prepared and possibly avoid delays.
Better Navigation
CarPlay’s system gets in touch with your habits, meaning it can instantly track the best route to the places you frequent. Many drivers will wait until they’re on the road to plug in their locations, but Car Play makes it easier to save time while being on the go. The device is set to give you a reminder to plug in your phone to the system as soon as you get in the car, and it’s also set to be in sync with your calendar events. As long as the locations are saved, your CarPlay will be able to get you to your destination with practically no effort on your part.
