Your First Look at the 2027 BMW X5 in Freeport, NY
Reserve My BMW X5The 2027 BMW X5 begins the model’s fifth generation with new exterior styling, an updated interior, and the broadest range of drive systems ever offered in a BMW model. The lineup will also introduce the first fully electric BMW iX5. BMW of Freeport is following the rollout closely for drivers in Nassau County and throughout Long Island.
The new-body X5 keeps its tall, upright stance, but almost every exterior detail is different. A vertical kidney grille and X-shaped headlights give the front end a sharper, more distinct face than the outgoing model.
Along the sides, sculpted wheel arches, slimmer taillights, and flush BMW Winglet door handles clean up the profile. BMW says the lineup will include eleven exterior colors, ten wheel designs, and wheels up to 23 inches for the first time on an X5.
One change worth knowing about: the redesigned X5 is confirmed as a two-row model only.
The 2027 X5 comes in more configurations than any generation before it. The X5 40 and X5 40 xDrive use a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with mild hybrid support, making 394 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. The X5 40 xDrive adds BMW's all-wheel-drive system.
Higher up, the X5 50e xDrive plug-in hybrid makes a combined 483 horsepower with about 44 miles of electric-only range, and the iX5 60 xDrive, BMW's first fully electric X5, makes 570 horsepower with an estimated 435-mile range and 800-volt fast charging.
The cabin centers on BMW's new Panoramic iDrive system. A Panoramic Vision strip runs along the windshield base, a 17.9-inch touchscreen handles most functions, and a 3D Head-Up Display comes standard. An available passenger display adds a second screen up front.
Each driver can rearrange the layout and save their own profile, and over-the-air updates let BMW add features later. Voice commands work through "Hey BMW" for navigation, climate, and entertainment.
Driving Assistant Plus comes standard, helping manage speed, following distance, and lane centering, though the driver always needs to stay alert and ready to take over.
An available Highway Assistant goes further, adding hands-free driving on compatible limited-access highways at speeds up to 85 mph when conditions allow.
